Debian 4 Installation Procedure 

1.  Download current OpenOffice DEB package from OpenOffice.org
    OOo_2.3.1_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz

2.  Extract
    tar xzvf OOo_2.3.1_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz

3.  cd to the DEBS folder under the extracted folder.  Install the DEBS packages.
    sudo dpkg -i *.deb

4.  cd to the DEBS/desktop-integration and Install the *.deb package(s)
    sudo dpkg -i *.deb
